Prescription Lenses

Having been in the Optical business since 1967 we rely on prescriptions by Optometrist and Ophthalmologists from all over the Tri-State area, in point of fact 75% of our customers come into our office with prescriptions written by Doctors outside our office. Our name has become synonymous with quality, accuracy and professional prescription evaluations and filling. Many of the areas Pediatric Doctors refer their patients to Sturgeon’s as well as doctors who have patients with other unique prescriptions in powers and prisms.

Single Vision lenses are inventoried in office for most Rx’s and one hour to same day service is available for many customers, but with today’s advancements in lens designs, indexes, and coatings, it isn’t possible to inventory everything that is available and with overnight to 2nd day delivery on most any lens design Sturgeon’s phased out their grinding labs in 2012 and now concentrate on the finishing aspect of fabrication for in house quality control.

Bifocal, Trifocal and Progressive lenses are digitally fabricated in upper state New York and shipped same day, arriving the next day or two after the Rx is ordered, Only a small percentage of specialty lenses require more than a few days to complete, including all market available coatings, indexes, and designs.

The one-hour optical stores simply cannot provide all the newest technologies in coatings, indexes and designs and their customers are forced to use their in-store brands, many of which are not compatible with what a person is used to wearing or the best choice for their Rx needs.
